Monthy Meeting

Our meeting is Tuesday, May 28 at 7pm.  We are meeting at the Civil Rights Heritage Center, 1040 W. Washington.

Asphalt Art is coming to our neighborhood!  This traffic calming pedestrian crossing will be built on a trial basis, in front of the Civil Rights Heritage Center, crossing to the  Center for Civic Innovation on Washington Street, right along the path of the Greenway Project.

There will be volunteer days and possibly a food truck.  There will be some lane closures during construction.  Come hear about how this work might affect you, what there will be to eat, and how you can help.

One way to help is to VOTE for your favorite art.  The commissioned artist for this piece, Chis Silva, will be in attendance at the meeting to present the plan, and some options, and WE GET TO CHOSE THE ART.  We were all invited to take part in the planning process over the last few months, and we appreciate everyone who submitted and attended and made suggestions.  Now it is time to put paint on the road, and once again OUR feedback is important.  You can vote for your favorite art plan in person at the meeting or on Facebook up until 6:45pm on Tuesday the 28th.

Art Layout Days will be June 5th and 6th, with a backup date of June 7, and then the Art Installation will be happening on June 8th, with a backup date of June 9.  Come, join the party!

In other news . . .

Some neighbors are coordinating to have yard and garage sales on June 22.  The hope is that more sales will generate more interest than one sale would.  We will be promoting this event online and providing maps of participating households to our potential shoppers.  If you would like to participate with a sale of your own, or pitch in on the organization end, reach out to our good neighbor, Emily Ransom via her email:  eransom@hcc-nd.ecu

If you have any other neighborhood concerns, please reach out.

Hope to see you at the Civil Rights Center, 1040 W. Washington on May 28!
